Since 2002, Geshe Sonam Thargye, spiritual director of Drol Kar Buddhist Centre, has guided the development and expansion of a sponsorship program to help provide educational and health care opportunities for Tibetans in need through the Nying Jey Projects for Tibetan Communities Organisation.
There are currently over 700 individual Tibetans, at monasteries in India, nunneries in Tibet and students from small villages in eastern Tibet,
being helped by this organisation with funds generated through the generosity of Australian people.
Perhaps you would like to become one of these wonderful Nying Jey sponsors.
Geshe Sonam says

The best way to help save the Tibetan culture is to support the education of Tibetan monks, nuns and especially children in both secular and religious education.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama, on the occasion of his visit to Drol Kar Buddhist Centre on June 11 2007, spoke very passionately about the need to develop education programs for Tibetan children. He strongly emphasised the importance of education as a way to empower the Tibetan people in Tibet and abroad.
