The Buddhist practice of mindfulness enables us to retain and remember whatever spiritual knowledge we have gained and apply it in our daily life.

From this retreat practice, we will learn the various mental factors that accompany mindfulness to guard the doors of the senses.

These mental factors - alertness, attention, and concentration helps cognize an object of meditation. By learning about and including the relevant factors in our mindfulness practice, we will counteract the mental afflictions that torment our mind.
